Crime
is falling in Northamptonshire, down 19% in the last 4 years, and burglaries
and vehicle crime are at their lowest levels for 20 years. Overall, crime
in Northamptonshire fell by 6.5% last year, but whilst some areas like
Corby experienced a 13% fall, others like East Northamptonshire experienced
a small increase.
Some of the major factors helping crime and anti-social behaviour go down in Corby were the Borough Council’s initiatives to provide additional Police Community Support Officers, neighbourhood wardens and detached youth workers.
Wherever you live, you are served by a Safer Community Team, working
hard to tackle issues in your neighbourhood that are affecting your quality
of life. I want to give SCTs in East Northamptonshire every support to
build towards the successes seen in Corby and elsewhere.
I want East Northamptonshire Council to provide funding for more PCSOs
to combat antisocial behaviour in the towns and villages of East Northamptonshire.
PCSOs provide community-based policing to tackle low level nuisance and
antisocial behaviour, while at the same time freeing up the Police to
focus their efforts on tackling more serious crimes.
If you want to see crime go down, support my petition for more Police
Community Support Officers funded by East Northamptonshire Council and
the Police.
